Somewhat of an elder statesman of the Strip, the 3,044-room Mirage goes relatively light on the glitz, though it certainly doesn't spare entertainment, with a resident Cirque du Soleil show, and a volcano feature at its entrance that 'explodes' hourly every night. One of the first mega-resorts to hit the Las Vegas Strip, the Mirage Hotel and Casino opened in 1989, the first project for now-famed casino developer Steve Wynn.
